LT Weefunk (then Staff Sgt) is awarded the Military Medal for leadership of the attack on Bois de Bavent on 21 June 1944.
Bois du Bavuent VS Bjorn
Staff Sgt Weefunk attacked the north building complex with 1 airborne infantry platoon with mg, tank and howitzer support. His men took the complex with minor losses, knocking out a german sniper, pioneer team, mg42 team, and command team. one surviovor in assult team and 3 in smg team. He then headed south and knocked out a pak40 with artillery. His tank then killed a Flak 37mm that was in a bunker suppressing and killing infantry in a farmhouse. He came close to taking the enemy supply vl at the end.
Nice work Weefunk, your tactics were great and yielded good results.
